Elbow Specialists

Elbow Pain Frisco, TX

There are various causes of elbow pain.  Whether you have a sports injury or a pre-existing condition, Performance Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine has the experience and expertise to quickly diagnose and treat the cause of your elbow pain.

The elbow is made up of three major bones:

  • Humerus – the upper arm bone that sits between the shoulder and elbow. (Yes, it’s your funny bone but having an elbow condition that affects your humerus isn’t so funny).
  • Radius – located between the elbow and wrist, the radius is a bone on the outside or thumb-side of your forearm between the elbow and wrist
  • Ulna – the forearm bone that runs next to the radius and is located between the elbow and wrist on inside or pinky-side of your forearm

Common Elbow Conditions:

  • Golfer’s Elbow – Local pain in the inner elbow. Twisting and straining the forearm can exacerbate the problem.
  • Tennis Elbow – Inflammation in the tendons. Often affects tennis players but can affect those that make repetitive      movements with arms and elbows.
  • Bursitis – Commonly caused by a local infection, rheumatoid arthritis, or gout. Conditions where the tip of the elbow becomes inflamed and fluid builds up beneath the skin.
  • Arthritis – Characterized by intense joint pain, swelling, and a limited range of motion. Usually caused by injury, disease, or aging.

Although there are several different kinds of elbow fractures, olecranon fractures are the most common. Quite often, olecranon fractures occur because of a bad fall, being struck by a hard object, or an indirect fracture. An indirect fracture is usually the result of something or someone landing on a wrist with a locked elbow.

People with some olecranon fractures may benefit from having a surgical procedure. We’re happy to give you advice on whether elbow surgery is recommended and/or necessary for your specific situation or elbow condition.

Wonderful Client Feedback

Dr. Diehl always listens and takes the most conservative approach for the injury rather than surgery first. He’s taken care of several of my sprains & falls. Highly recommend.

This has been one of the best medical care experiences I’ve had, from our initial consultation to post-op visits to physical therapy. Dr. Diehl and his team are a very caring, friendly, and professional group. I had a left knee injury (meniscus and ACL tears). Thank you!!

Dr. Diehl was very kind and caring. I don’t think there is a person in this office who is not professional and personable. They go above and beyond for their patients.
